If you are looking for the place where time has stood still for decades, even centuries, you have found it and it is called Breb! A family from Maramureș will welcome you in these traditional wooden houses, about a hundred years old, saved and restored in one of the most authentic villages in Romania, to enjoy a unique experience, not to be missed.

The names of the houses are given after the elders who lived in them and who filled them with life. Casa lu ‘Piștău and Casa lu’ Ștefan will be known like this forever. They have been kept authentic, with most of the old elements intact, while having the comfort and facilities that all guests need and appreciate.

Casa lu ‘Piștau has 3 double bedrooms, and Casa lu’ Ștefan has 2 triple bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a bathroom, a kitchen, a small traditional terace. One of the bedrooms also has a baby swing. There is also a playground full of toys, so that families who stop here can feel perfectly comfortable with their children.

The nearby traditional Romanian restaurant, called Casa lu ‘Dochia, offers you a complete and unforgettable experience. The food served there is natural, prepared with ingredients from local farms. The cook was born in the village and learned the craft from her mother. Children up to the age of 10 will receive a free breakfast.

Casa lu ‘Dochia is open every year from Easter until January 10 next year.

The local attractions in the village of Breb will be revealed at every step. Take a walk through the streets of the village and notice the gates and the wooden houses, the old church of the village, folk craftsmen in the area. Moreover, if you want to have an amazing overview of Breb and the Gutai Massif, start on a light hike around the village, on the marked route that begins at the new church. Your steps will be taken on paths that roll up and down, through meadows full of flowers and medicinal plants, orchards and groves. Interact with the locals during work and learn more of the details that spice up their life, here in Maramureș.

The tourist objectives in the ecotourism destination Eco Maramureș are easily accessible. Thus, you can visit the wooden churches in Budesti and Desești (UNESCO monuments), the village of Sârbi where you can discover the traditions and working methods of the locals that you only see at the Village Museums or you can start hiking towards Cocoșului Ridge and Gutâi Peak. The area can also be explored from the saddle of the bicycle – Eco Maramureș provides 164 km of marked routes for cycling.
