In Maramureș, at the foot of the amazing Gutinului Mountains, you come across a small village, rich in traditions, with hardworking people, who proudly wear the traditional clothing of ancient Maramureș.

There are dozens of traditional houses in Breb – one of these is Mărioara pension, an old but welcoming house, which harmoniously combines the traditional Maramureș style and the comfort of the 21st century. The 4 rooms, each with its own bathroom, are always ready to receive special guests. Next to it is a new house, built in a traditional style that has 4 rooms with a private bathroom, dining room and recreation area. In the courtyard of the pension you will find a playground for children, a swing, a picnic table; on request the hosts organize parties or trips with sledge or cart. If you want to live just as villagers used to, with traditional food from the hosts’ household, with fresh air and good “horinca” (local brandy), you are expected at Pension Mărioara in Breb!

From here you can go hiking or rent bikes because there are marked routes for both activities or you can take it slowly, on foot, on the streets of Breb village or on a light hike around the village, on the recently marked route.

The main attractions in Historic Maramureș are easily accessible from here: the town of Sighetu Marmației, the monasteries Bârsana and Săpânța Perii, the Merry Cemetery from Săpânța, Mocănița from Vişeu de Sus.
