The pension is located, as its name suggests, at the foot of the Gutâi Mountains and the Rooster’s Ridge, in a picturesque village, which in recent years has become a major tourist attraction of Maramureș. Breb, which has become an emblematic village for the eco-tourism destination of Eco Maramureș, is a great place to experience an authentic life in the country, enjoying the traditions of the place, see the welcoming people and make the most of a space where time flies slowly, just as hundreds of years before.

The guest house offers traditionally decorated rooms with a generous terrace, where you can dine and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful views. There is a beautiful garden, where you can let your children play freely, a suitable place for rest and silence. When you want to relax you can do it in the hot water tub, with a glass of horinca or blueberry liqueur.

Traditional food, prepared from local ingredients or from its own household is an additional reason to stop at Pensiunea Sub Creasta Cocoșului!

A walk through the streets of Breb will give you the opportunity to discover real “treasures” at every step! Traditional wooden houses, Maramures gates, older or newer, real works of art, the wooden church, the village life, which flows slowly, in an ancestral rhythm – these are just some of the reasons why we invite you to discover Breb, on foot. Meeting a local on your way will be an opportunity for spiritual enrichment because the villagers here are very hospitable and eager to share old and more recent stories, regarding their own life or their village.

If you want to have an overview of Breb and the Gutâi Massif, you are invited to begin an easy hike around the village, on the marked route that starts next to the new church. Your steps will be carried on paths that roll up and down, through meadows full of flowers and medicinal plants, through orchards and groves.

The tourist objectives from the ecotourism destination of “Eco Maramureș” are easily accessible. Thus, you can visit the wooden churches in Budesti and Desești, both UNESCO monuments, the village of Sârbi where you can discover the traditions and working methods of the locals that you only see at the Village Museums or you can go hiking to the Rooster’s Ridge and Gutâi Peak. The area can also be explored by bicycle – this ecotourism destination provides 164 km of marked routes for cycling tourism. You can easily reach tourist attractions in the larger area of historic Maramureș: the town of Sighetu Marmației, Bârsana Monastery, Săpânța Peri Monastery, Merry Cemetery, Mocănița in Viseu de Sus.
