How to contribute
As a tourist you too can support the mission of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Mara-Cosău-Creasta Cocoșului destination.
You can contribute by choosing the guest houses and tour operators on this website or those that display the ecotourism logo. In addition to helping identify the area and to aiding the spatial orientation, the destination logo is the “certificate” received by those operators who carry out quality tourism with a positive impact on both the nature and the community of the hosting area. By choosing their services, you will strengthen their conviction that their effort – to invest in protecting and capitalizing on local heritage – is cherished by tourists. And thus, they will have another reason to invest further in their business.
What are the options:
1.REQUEST a local guide: contact an authorized guide who knows the area and can guide you through the activities you choose and give you varied explanations and information about the area. Find the guides list in the Information Centres Section – or at all receptions desks and restaurants presented on this website.
2. DONATE for the preservation of the natural heritage of the area. The Conservation Fund covers the needs of the protected natural areas for which there are no available financial resources and also contributes to the improvement of tourism infrastructure. The Fund is managed by the Destination Management Unit, hosted by EcoLogic Association, with technical support from WWF (on conservation) and AER (with regard to ecotourism). The Fund is managed in accordance to the principles of transparency and non-discrimination, on the basis of a clear set of procedures that ensure a secure management of the funds.
